Our round up of wellness trends for 2017

Wellness trends

It’s the start of the new year, and wellness is top of mind. Why not let us help you decide how you can be your best this year? Here’s the hottest wellness trends for 2017…

Walk this way

More people living and working in cities are walking more than using any other mode of transport – this might be down to the increased popularity of wearable tech measuring and logging this information or purely down to the public transport strikes!

Healthy dinner parties

Can healthy dinner parties really be a thing of the future? Move over ‘come dine with me’ at home and let’s all embrace healthy dinner parties. 2017 is set to provide you with culinary inspiration and the likes of Deliciously Ella and Joe Wicks are set to be releasing books to do just that.

Workout streaming

More and more people are streaming their entertainment thanks to the likes of Netflix and iPlayer so why should workouts be any different? Workout DVDs are a thing of the past, look out for Facebook Live workouts instead – Joe Wicks is doing live workouts throughout January so tune in and get sweaty.

Physical and mental wellbeing is going to be very popular in 2017 with releases of many new apps to assist you with mindfulness. Virgin Active are looking into mindful exercise at their gyms – a step in the right direction if you ask us.

Social Fitness

We saw the growth of social fitness throughout 2016 and this is set to continue in 2017 and even expand from weekend events to being seen as the new ‘night out’. Companies like Wellscene will be continuing with their Friday night events and Morning Gloryville will be teaming up with The View from The Shard for early morning dance parties. Working out and catching up with friends just got a whole lot easier!

We will see a continuation of growth in boxing as it becomes more and more accessible and appealing to women across the UK and globe. Our favourite boxing sessions are at 1Rebel and KOBOX but there is set to be a new kid on the block in the form of BXR launching in Marylebone in January.

Athlete Inspiration

The trend to train like an athlete is supposed to become even more popular in 2017 and Virgin Active is set to launch a new H.E.A.T (High Energy Athletic Training) programme in early 2017 based on this very idea.
